Suleman Zaffar Takes Investigation, Sheheryar Khan Security in Islamabad Police

IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi’s August 26 notification formally assigns SSP Investigation to Suleman Zaffar and SSP Security & Administration to Capt (R) Sardar Muhammad Sheheryar Khan, redistributing several additional and look-after charges.

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has reshuffled key senior-level assignments, reducing the unusually heavy portfolio held by PSP officer Suleman Zaffar and assigning major security and administrative responsibilities to Capt (R) Sardar Muhammad Sheheryar Khan.

Suleman Zaffar Posted as SSP Investigation

According to Notification No. 1903/E(G) issued by the Office of the Inspector General of Police Islamabad on August 26, 2026, Suleman Zaffar, PSP/BS-18, has been posted as SSP Investigation (OPS) with immediate effect and until further orders.

The notification shows that before the reshuffle, Zaffar was simultaneously handling six portfolios: SSP Security & Administration (Operations), additional charge of SSP Capital Patrols, look-after charge of SSP Investigation, look-after charge of SP OCU, look-after charge of SP AVLU, and look-after charge of SP Law & Order and ARF.

Zaffar’s Responsibilities Reduced to Three

Under the new arrangement, his responsibilities have been reduced to three. Alongside SSP Investigation, Zaffar will retain the additional charge of SP OCU and the look-after charge of SP AVLU.

The restructuring effectively removes Security & Administration, Capital Patrols and Law & Order/ARF from his portfolio.

Islamabad Police’s own recent releases had already referred to Zaffar as SSP Investigation while reporting on investigation and anti-vehicle-lifting operations. Earlier police material identified him in the Security Operations and Administration role, reflecting the multiple responsibilities he had been carrying.

Sheheryar Khan Takes Over Security & Administration

In the second major change, Capt (R) Sardar Muhammad Sheheryar Khan, PSP/BS-18, who was awaiting posting, has been appointed SSP Security & Administration (Operations).

Sheheryar Khan will also hold the additional charge of SP Capital Patrols and the look-after charge of SP Law & Order and ARF, according to the notification.

Sheheryar Khan Brings Field Experience

Sheheryar Khan is a Police Service of Pakistan officer with previous field experience outside Islamabad. Federal government records show him among the PSP officers of the 47th CTP who had been serving in Balochistan before being relieved for onward posting, while earlier records also document his service in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Reshuffle Redistributes Senior Command Responsibilities

The latest reshuffle indicates an effort to distribute senior command responsibilities more evenly as additional officers join the capital police, reducing reliance on arrangements in which individual officers simultaneously oversee several important operational portfolios.

The notification, signed for IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, states that the posting, transfer and additional/look-after charge assignments take effect immediately and will remain in place until further orders.
