RAWALPINDI: A Rawalpindi sessions court on Monday sentenced Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar, a recently inducted Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader and son of the late Imtiaz “Taji” Khokhar, along with two co-convicts, to life imprisonment in the Majid Satti murder case after finding them guilty under relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The judgment was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi, concluding a trial that began after the registration of the murder case at Sadiqabad Police Station, Rawalpindi, in August 2022.

Court Convicts Farrukh Khokhar

According to the official sentence warrant, Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar, son of Imtiaz Khokhar alias Taji Khokhar, was convicted under Sections 302, 109 and 114 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The court awarded him:

  • Life imprisonment as Ta’zir.
  • Rs10 million in compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased under Section 544-A of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.).
  • In case of non-payment, the amount shall be recovered as arrears of land revenue.

The court also convicted two other accused, awarding them life imprisonment, while co-accused Waseem was acquitted after the prosecution failed to establish the charges against him.

Immediately after the verdict, Farrukh Khokhar who had been out on bail during the trial was taken into custody inside the courtroom. The remaining two convicts, produced from Adiala Jail, were also remanded back to prison to serve their sentences.

Tight Security at Judicial Complex

The verdict attracted a large gathering at the Rawalpindi Judicial Complex, where members of Majid Satti’s family, relatives, supporters of the accused and lawyers were present.

Rawalpindi Police deployed heavy security to prevent any untoward incident. Armed individuals and vehicles were barred from entering the Judicial Complex, while all visitors underwent security screening before being allowed entry.
