Residents Rely on Makeshift Cable Lift as Garbage Piles Up in Islamabad Locality

ISLAMABAD: Images circulating on social media have drawn attention to alleged civic challenges in an Islamabad locality near Zia Masjid and Pandorian, where residents reportedly rely on a makeshift cable lift to cross a water channel due to the absence of a bridge.
The photographs also show large piles of accumulated garbage along the watercourse, raising concerns about sanitation, environmental pollution and public health in the area.
According to the social media post, the improvised cable lift was arranged by local residents to facilitate daily movement between neighbourhoods after years without a permanent crossing.
The post questions why some residents of the federal capital continue to face a lack of basic civic infrastructure despite living within Islamabad’s limits and calls on the relevant authorities to address the issues.
