Margalla Police say six suspects have been arrested and around 70 to 80 percent of the valuables taken from the Bahawalpur royal family’s F-8/3 residence have been recovered, while efforts continue to recover the remaining items.

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have traced the high-profile theft of historical antiques and family heirlooms worth approximately Rs20 million from the residence of the Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family in Sector F-8/3, with six suspects arrested in connection with the case, according to a fresh police update.

The valuables were reported missing from the Islamabad residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, son of Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi. Earlier reports, citing police, confirmed that the missing property was valued at around Rs20 million.

Six Suspects Arrested

According to the latest information provided by police, Margalla Police traced the case using modern investigative technology, Safe City camera footage and human intelligence. SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said six suspects allegedly involved in the case had been taken into custody.

Police further claimed that approximately 70 to 80 percent of the stolen property has been recovered from the arrested suspects. The latest recovery and arrest figures are based on the fresh police statement provided to Islamabad Tribune; these specific figures had not yet appeared in the independently accessible reports reviewed at the time of publication.

Historical Valuables Among Stolen Items

The missing collection included several historically significant objects associated with the former State of Bahawalpur. Reported items included a silver throne-like chair, a silver ladder, silver bowls, gold plates, statues and gold objects bearing the Bahawalpur State crest. A large historical silver frame displaying the former state’s crest was also among the missing property.

Old muskets and swords associated with the Bahawalpur State were also reported missing. The family had initially been conducting an inventory to determine the full extent of the loss.

Investigation Continues

Earlier, Margalla Police Station in-charge Muhammad Imran had confirmed the arrest and interrogation of a domestic worker in connection with the case. At that stage, authorities had not publicly confirmed recovery of the missing valuables.

The case was registered under Sections 454 and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code, according to published reports.

SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said the investigation has now been expanded to recover the remaining property and apprehend any suspects who remain at large.
