Auditor General’s Report Reveals Rs11 Billion QAU Land Under Illegal Occupation

The Auditor General of Pakistan’s Audit Report for 2025–26 has revealed that approximately 298 acres of land allotted to Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) remain under illegal occupation, with the estimated value of the encroached land exceeding Rs11 billion.

According to the audit report, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) allocated 1,709 acres of land to Quaid-i-Azam University in 1976 for educational purposes. However, a significant portion of the land has yet to be recovered from illegal occupants despite the passage of several decades.

The university administration informed auditors that it had made full payment to the CDA for the allocated land but never received possession of the entire area. As a result, the institution has been unable to utilize the encroached land for academic expansion and development.

The Auditor General’s report recommends that the university initiate legal proceedings without further delay to secure possession of the remaining land and safeguard valuable public assets designated for higher education.
